Juneau dairy farms [graphic], ca. 1890-1950's.

This collection represents 5 of the more than dozen families operating dairy farms in Juneau from the 1890's until the 1950's. The collection guide includes biographical sketches of each family: Danner (Mendenhall Dairy), Kendler (Alaska Dairy), Smith (Juneau Dairy), Pederson (Pederson Dairy), Hendrickson (Sunny Point Dairy). Another pioneer Juneau family, the Browns from Orkney Stromness Scotland, is included in this collection. Photo captions were taken directly from family photograph albums or from interviews with surviving relatives of the dairy farmers, conducted by Willette Janes in 1989.
